WORTMAN -  Theresa “Terry” Johann Wortman (Morse), age 95, a longtime resident of Grandville, Michigan, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2017.

Terry was born in Lennon, MI on August 10, 1922, to Lionel and Ethel Morse.  She grew up in Flint, MI as the fourth of 14 children, graduating from Flint Central High School in 1940.  While serving in the Navy WAVES during World War II as an Aerographer, she met and later married Orville O. Wortman on December 31, 1945.  Their marriage was the first performed in the Naval Air Station’s Base Chapel in Dade County, FL.  After her honorable discharge, Terry and Orv raised their six sons and one daughter in Grandville.

Once her children were grown, Terry decided to attend Grand Valley State College (University), graduating in 1973 with a teaching degree.  She later went on to teach 5th and 6th grade at Oriole Park School in Wyoming, MI.  Throughout her life Terry enjoyed various arts and crafts such as oil painting, quilting, crocheting and doll making.  Terry and Orv loved to dance, and she loved children - especially babies.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Orville Wortman; son, Allan Wortman; parents Lionel and Ethel Morse.

She is survived by her children Larry Wortman, Garry (Sharon) Wortman, Brian (Kathy) Wortman, Douglas (Kathi) Wortman, Thomas Wortman and Beth McCullough; daughter-in-law Barbara Wortman; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; eight siblings; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
